About IDRF

The International Dementia Research Foundation (IDRF) is a non-profit organization founded by Dr. Stephanie R. Johnson in March of 2005 in an effort to address Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias in women and ethnic minorities.  It is IDRF’s goal to advocate on behalf of women and ethnic minorities, which are the two groups disproportionately affected by various forms of dementia (e.g. Alzheimer’s disease, Vascular dementia)

Mission Statement: The International Dementia Research Foundation (IDRF) seeks to support and encourage the development of culturally sensitive diagnostic and treatment methodologies to eliminate Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias.

3 Main Goals of IDRF

The international dementia research foundation (IIDRF) is a private non-profit foundation that was founded by Dr. Stephanie R. Johnson in an effort to address issues of Alzheimer's disease and related dementias in ethnic minorities and women. The goals of IDRF include the following:

Educational Awareness: IDRF seeks to provide gender and culturally relevant information on dementia through seminars, health fairs, and workshops for families, caregivers and medical professionals. Our educational awareness program is meant to encourage and empower individuals to address dementia from a multicultural perspective.

Clinical Research Program: This program will provide funding for clinical research in Alzheimer's disease and related dementias that is exploring diagnostic and treatment methodologies for women and ethnic minorities. The research generated by the IDRF grant recipients will be vital to increasing our understanding of gender and cultural issues related to Alzheimer's disease and other dementias.

Grants and Fellowship Program: The goal of this program is to provide grants and fellowships to encourage women and ethnic minorities to pursue careers in aging and geriatric research. The grants and fellowships will be facilitated through graduate and medical institutions around the country.
